Muller-Thurgau has bit of a dirty reputation as producing inexpensive, relatively insipid, fruity white wines. HOWEVER, it does lend itself to fermenting on skins and as a result is a wonderful canvas for making orange wine!
12-14 days on skins before aging on fine lees in stainless for 7-8 months. Fine chalky tannins, and hits of apricot skin and honey frame the wine beautifully. A great orange wine for first-timers.
