Otomi textiles, also known as tenangos are hand-embroidered in the Mexican state of Hidalgo. They are typically made from cotton muslin and feature saturated colors and bold use of positive and negative space.  The designs used - mostly flora and fauna -  date back to ancient cave paintings in the area.  A lively addition, and certainly a conversation starter at any table!
