Issued by Poland in 1967, this commemorative set of two stamps marks the 150th anniversary of the death of national hero Tadeusz Kościuszko (1746–1817), a celebrated leader of the Polish struggle for independence and a participant in the American Revolutionary War. Both designs feature a finely engraved portrait of Kościuszko wearing a military uniform and order, created by R. Dudzicki and engraved by E. Konecki.
The 6 groszy (brown) stamp served for basic domestic postage.
The 2.50 złoty (green) stamp was issued for higher postal rates.
These stamps stand as classic examples of mid-20th century Polish engraved issues, prized for their historical significance and artistic detail.
