Effects of this medicine
・This medicine reversibly inhibits the enzyme which degrades neurotransmitters in the brain to increase the amount of acetylcholine in the brain. It delays progression of dementia symptoms such as memory impairment.
・It is usually used to inhibit progression of dementia symptoms in Alzheimer-type dementia or Lewy body dementia.
Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)
・For delaying progression of dementia symptoms in Alzheimer-type dementia: In general, for adults, start by giving 1 tablet (3 mg of active ingredient) at a time, once a day for the first 1 to 2 weeks, and then the dosage will be increased to 5 mg at a time, once a day. If the disease has progressed to an advanced stage, give 5 mg at a time, once a day for more than 4 weeks, then the daily dose is increased to 10 mg at a time, once a day. The dosage may be decreased according to symptoms of the patient.
・For delaying progression of dementia symptoms in Lewy body dementia: In general, for adults, start by giving 1 tablet (3 mg of active ingredient) at a time, once a day for the first 1 to 2 weeks, and then the dosage will be increased to 5 mg at a time, once a day. ・After giving 5 mg at a time, once a day for more than 4 weeks, the daily dose is increased to 10 mg at a time, once a day. The dosage may be decreased to 5 mg at a time, once a day according to symptoms of the patient.
・This preparation contains 3 mg of the active ingredient in a tablet. Strictly follow the instructions.
・If the dosage is increased to 10 mg at a time, once a day, pay attention to the patient's gastrointestinal adverse reactions.
・If you miss giving a dose, give a dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and follow the regular dosing schedule. You should never give two doses at one time.

Precautions while taking this medicine
・In Alzheimer-type dementia or Lewy body dementia, the machine operation capability such as driving a car may decrease. This medicine may cause impaired consciousness, dizziness and sleepiness. Let the patient avoid operating in potentially hazardous activities such as driving a car.

・Keep out of the reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.
・Discard the remainder. Do not store them. Ask the pharmacist or medical facility how to discard unneeded medicine.
