Clemens Busch is a straight-up iconoclast... and might be a genius. After taking over his small family property in 1984 on some of the steepest terroir *in the entire world*, he slowly and steadily bought more land as lazier (saner?) neighbors abandoned the hills for easier-to-farm land in the plains. Now? He runs almost the entire hillside known as the Pündericher Marienburg: on the edge of the river, it's considered amongst the very best sites in the Mosel. His 2023 GG (Grand Cru) Rothenpfad is a wine that will force expletives out of your chakras. This is bone-dry, nigh-crystalline, herbally savoury, stonily saline, richly textured Riesling.
