Each piece is carved from wood with a ridged top & stackable bottom. Half the pieces are stained in a darker wood stain. Half the pieces are natural wood light color. Set comes in an attractive burlap cloth bag with a drawstring.

And yes, these pieces are "stackable", but don't expect them to have the uniform shape of factory plastic. Each is wooden carved and unique.
