Nuqtah on Thuluth Movement in Chinese Red.
(Dot on Thuluth Script Movement)
-—————
This artwork features a collage of movement in writing Arabic Thuluth script. It reflects a close-up or enlarged view on the behaviour of Arabic Thuluth letters through arbitrary demonstrations of partial and joined forms using a large pen size. There is no intention of composing any word or meanings in this artwork.
The centre of the artwork is a rhombic dot, commonly used as visual markings or diacritical marks to signify the phonetic identity and to indicate the value of a particular letterform. It also reflects a mystical significance known as the mark of existence, and the beginning and the end of life, of a script. Metaphorically, it is an ultimate reflection of one’s life in the world of Arabic calligraphy. To some, it’s a reminder towards the path of enlightenment.
