With over 36 years of building experience, luthier Chuck Thornton truly knows how to craft an exceptionally fine guitar. His HTL is based on the traditional Fullerton double cut recipe but with many improvements to the original design. The HTL is built from hand selected tone-woods for a balanced and light weight instrument that rings like a bell. This particular HTL weighs in at only 6lbs 9oz. It features body contours and a radiused neck pocket, as well as intonated Steel saddles and staggered tuning posts for the utmost stability.

The pickups are Harmonic Designs Vintage Plus set. A combination of Strat and P-90 pickups, which have a rich 50’s-like Strat tone but with much better volume balance between the three coils and a fatter bridge position tone. By using six pull pieces rather than magnets, the pickup can be wound hotter without the muddy sounds associated with hotter wound pickups. The magnets also pull much less on the strings than a std single coil. This is because they are at the bottom of the pickup like a P-90, for richer more natural string sustain. They have a very low noise floor as well with their non microphonic glass-fiber bobbins and exclusive gold-screen shielding.

The Nootka Cedar bodies warm, rich and articulate tone combined with the high-level of craftsmanship and top-notch electronics, give you a guitar that will inspire and surprise you daily. Unlike a vintage instrument which typically need lots of work to play well; Chuck’s guitars have all of the kinks of these classic designs worked out. You get a smooth, enjoyable playing experience every time.

If you are in the market for a special Strat-style guitar w/ a unique twist, built by one of the finest luthiers working today; this is your ticket. Setup work is flawless and the guitar is strung with 10-46 gauge strings. The vibrato works effortlessly and is setup to float and pull back at least a minor 3rd on most of the open strings & at least one whole step on most fretted notes. Of course not every note will pull back the same amount, as each string has a different amount of tension. The wound strings like the E, A & D tend to pull back more as a general rule of thumb.
