As someone who lives without a corpus callosum (fibres connecting the brain's left and right hemispheres), Douglas's life has been peppered with unique challenges. The fact that he doesn’t think like other people often leads to racing thoughts, unique ideas and, at times, alienation.

This painting expresses my pain and anger towards the cover-ups by the church and government. It speaks to the deep hurt of feeling invisible - unseen, unheard, and treated as if I’m not worth knowing. Through this work, I’m confronting the silence and denial that so many are forced to live with.
