Features

An Arts & Crafts English Oak dresser by Liberty & Co. made in about 1920. A real show-stopper with very good colour and a nicely proportioned and attractive design in very well figured quarter-sawn English Oak. This dresser was made nearly 100 years ago and is still as sound and stylish and it was then, it treated with care it will last many more lifetimes, featuring:
  • Very well figured quarter-sawn English Oak (quarter-sawing is a method of sawing oak logs to produce boards with superior strength, making it less likely to crack, shrink or warp. It also gives the finished boards prominent highly decorative 'medullary rays' in its grain.)
  • Rectangular top made out of just three continuous pieces of oak
  • Two drawers (made with single plank fronts, solid drawer carcasses joined with hand-cut lap and through dovetails and solid bases)
  • Two doors with two plank raised fielded panels with the rails and stiles joined by blind tenons
  • Arched lower rail
  • Handmade wrought iron fittings
  • Upper section with three open shelves, arched top and slatted open back
  • Constructed using true cabinet making techniques such as traditional blind tenons secured with hand made pegs
  • Natural oil based finish
  • Can be separated into 2 parts for easy transportation

Condition

Smoothly sliding drawers, free from woodworm, tight joints and overall excellent colour. A few small knocks and marks as expected with an item that has been in use for nearly a century.
