Bottled to celebrate Mickey Heads and his 13 years at the helm, Arrrrrrrdbeg! is a new end of an era edition whisky, wholly matured in ex-rye casks. This mouthwatering last salute to Mickey is a first for the Distillery and a blunderbuss of fruity flavours.

If the Ardbeg Distillery was in fact a ship, it would make sense that it be a cool, historic pirate ship, and everyone would pronounce it Arrrrrrrdbeg! Matured entirely in ex-rye casks, this is packed with fruity flavour and classic peaty tang.

Retired after 13 years as Distillery Manager and Committee Chair. Matured in ex-rye casks, smoky aromas of banana, pear, rye bread, lemon and vanilla toffee fill the nose. The palate offers notes of spicy pepper, melon, kiwi, aniseed and smoked toffee above a bed of savoury peat smoke.

About Ardbeg

Ardbeg distillery has been producing whisky since 1798. The distillery is owned by Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy, and produces a heavily peated Islay whisky. The distillery uses malted barley sourced from the maltings in Port Ellen.

The Ardbeg distillery was officially founded in 1815 by John McDougall. But Whisky was distilled there long before that. There are no documentations, as Ardbeg was an illegal business back in 1794. The distillery is now owned by LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy), which also owns Glenmorangie distillery in the Highlands of Scotland. The current capacity is just over one million litres per annum and its water source is Loch Uigeadail, after which one of its famous releases is named.
