This piece is very close to my heart for it was created out of an art therapy session where I was letting go of negative emotions that had been troubling me for some time.

"A flower will always grow back, even after it is stepped on... and so will I." 

Creating this piece, I was envisioning the hole I found myself in and not able to get out of. Being a victim of sexual assault several years ago and suffering in silence was causing subconscious issues within myself I didn't even realize.

Experiencing reiki for the first time forced all of those unresolved suppressed emotions to the surface which forced me to finally deal with them head on. The reiki specialist was able to pick up on my abuse and therefore ask me about it, forcing me to admit to myself, out loud to another person for the first time, just what had happened in my past.  

Finally saying the words out loud felt like the weight off my chest was finally lifted and I was able to breathe. Being able to come to terms with my past and realize it was never my fault and that I shouldn't feel ashamed opened up a door of healing for me.

After that I was able to open up to my family and loved ones about what had happened and I received an immense amount of support which in turn has contributed majorly to my healing process. 

I created this piece after the reiki when all my emotions were still at the surface and I needed to find a way to let them out and let them go. 

I created the hole I felt trapped in, once I did that and really stared into it for a while. I decided placing a flower in the centre of the hole would symbolize that; even when I'm down and feel I'll never get back up, a flower still grows back after it is stepped on, and so will I.

this piece is for you, or anyone in your life that has dealt with hardship (any hardship, not necessarily what my experience was), feeling like it might never come to an end. It will, and it always does because everything is temporary. A reminder that we're not alone in this world and with some TLC you as well can grow and flourish once again.
