Barcley Corsetry Company was founded in 1899 in Newark, New Jersey.  The founder, Harry W. Barcley, was an expert tailor who saw the potential for a made-to-measure corsetry service.  His efforts proved fruitful and in 1927 Barcley Corset Co expanded across the ocean to England.  

This Barcley Corsetry Service sign is likely from the 1920s or 1930s. It promotes the company's commitment to custom tailored corsets and undergarments. 

This sign features a heavy reverse painted black piece of glass with the letters removed, the negative space is backed with eye catching corrugated aluminum metal. 

The aluminum reflects the light and truly makes the letters look as if they are holographic.  The glass is securely held with a brass frame.  There are four tabs on the back of the sign for mounting, though one has broken.

This sign would have originally hung in a shop window but will now make a wonderful display in your home.
