The art of Meenakari originated in Persia and is believed to have travelled to India in 16th century.  The Mughal emperors used it extensively for decorating their palace interiors, including their thrones, later evolving to be used in jewellery and utensils. The art has been patronized in Rajasthan, India, where the craft has been passed down through generations of artisans.  The elaborate process of Meenakari starts with engraving designs onto clean metal surfaces and filling the cavities thus created with colorful enamel paste. The object is then fired in a kiln to fuse enamel with the metal surface and finally polished to give it a glossy finish.  These delicate and classic blue and maroon meenakari danglers, with an elegant petals design, hooks and silver finish can be easily paired with both Indo Western and traditional Indian attire.
