The Victron Orion-Tr 24/24-5A is a galvanically isolated DC-DC converter designed to step between 24V sources and 24V loads where electrical isolation between circuits is required. At 120W continuous output, it suits professional vehicle, marine and off-grid installations where two battery banks or systems must remain electrically separate.
Galvanic isolation is the key distinction between the Orion-Tr range and a standard DC-DC converter. Where two battery systems share a common ground, noise, leakage currents and fault voltages can pass between them. The Orion-Tr's transformer-based isolation barrier breaks that path entirely, which matters in marine installations subject to corrosion from stray currents, in vehicles with sensitive CAN-bus or audio systems, and in any installation where a fault on one circuit must not propagate to another.
The 24/24-5A variant is the correct choice when both the source and load operate at 24V nominal but the circuits must remain electrically separate. This is common in commercial vehicles with separate chassis and body-builder electrical systems, in narrowboats and yachts with shore power and domestic battery banks, and in off-grid cabins where a generator charging circuit feeds a separate inverter battery bank. The 120W continuous rating is sufficient for charging a secondary battery, powering a 24V load rail, or supplying a DC distribution board in a secondary zone.
The unit is built for fixed installation and continuous operation. Its enclosed format keeps it clean and protected in typical installation environments. At 0.5kg it adds negligible weight to any installation.

Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician or experienced system integrator familiar with DC wiring practices. Ensure correct fusing on both the input and output circuits in line with the cable ratings used. In marine applications, follow the relevant BMEA or ISO wiring standards. The unit must be mounted in a ventilated location and secured to prevent vibration damage. Verify that the source voltage remains within the specified input range under all load conditions before commissioning.
