A rare, large size, pink ground Dresden porcelain vase with cover, decorated in the classical style with young people in a park setting.  No damage or repairs.

The Augustus Rex monogram (AR) was introduced by Meissen in the first half of the 18th century and other manufacturers quickly saw the advantage of including a pseudo AR mark on their own porcelain wares.  This jar was made in Dresden, Germany and decorated by Helena Wolfsohn. 

Helena Wolfsohn owned a porcelain-decorating studio, which began operation in Dresden, Germany, in 1843. During her lifetime, her shop was one of the most prolific decorating studios in Dresden. She did not produce her own porcelain but purchased white blanks from Meissen as well as from other famous porcelain factories. Her mark was often mistaken for one of those factories, especially Meissen. Whether or not this was done on purpose to deceive is still in question amongst historians. However what is not in question, is that she painted pieces of exceptional quality and artistic merit, and that her wares have become collectible in their own right.
