Buddleia ‘Nanho Blue’ is a stunning butterfly bush with fragrant clusters of tiny mauve-blue flowers. This deciduous shrub has an elegant arching and spreading habit with willowy gray-green foliage. ‘Nanho Blue’ is an excellent addition to borders, cottage gardens, rose gardens, and butterfly gardens. It blooms from summer to fall, when few other shrubs bloom and is drought resistant once established. This vigorous perennial is also a popular fresh-cut flower.
Planting Instructions: Choose a location with full sun and average, well-drained soil. It will do best with at least 4 to 6 hours of sun a day. However, it can grow in poor soil if it drains well. Dig a hole large enough to encompass the roots without bending or circling. Set the plant in place so the crown (part of the plant where the root meets the stem) is level with the soil surface. Cover with soil to the original soil surface and water thoroughly. Be sure to keep it watered during peak heat or drought. Remove spent flower spikes and deadhead wilting flowers. In early spring, cut plants back to the ground to promote new growth. Then, apply a thin layer of compost and 2 to 4 inches of mulch to retain moisture and control weeds.
