Blueberries are typically in season from July 4th through Labor Day, making them a great late season choice. Not only are they delicious, but they are also naturally rich in antioxidants, providing numerous health benefits. Elliott Blueberry is a northern highbush bush with large, flavorful and nutritious berries that are harvested in the fall. It produces up to 25 pounds of medium-sized, sweet berries until the frosty days of autumn, making it a great choice for extending the season.
The 5-6′ tall bushes become a blaze of crimson, deep red and burgundy in the fall, so they are ideal arranged as an informal hedge. Set plants 4-8′ apart and make sure the soil is acid. You’ll have fresh blueberries for pies and preserves for many, many years. ‘Elliott’ bears more fruit at an earlier age than other varieties. Large, firm fruits with delicious sweet flavor. Vigorous plants.
Blueberries are considered a beautiful productive hedge with spring flowering on dark green foliage, delicious fruit in summer and fiery red foliage for autumn color. Set plants out as early as possible in the spring. Prune branches back about 1/2 their length at planting time with no further pruning required the next 3 years. Prune annually thereafter during the dormant period.
