At once earthy and bright, peridot (a perfect hazy late summer birthstone for August) cut in a marquise shape offers nuance and depth with a range of shades of green in this well-saturated stone. The marquise cut, a favourite of the 1980s (and the 1950s, 1920s, 1880s before), was developed in Paris c. 1745 for King Louis XV, who wanted a diamond cut in the shape of his mistress' mouth. This gorgeous ring features lightly textured shoulders and warm yellow gold that enhances the yellow-green unique to this gemstone.

Good vintage condition with wear to gold and peridot in line with age and use, and a lovely patina developing. Very minor evidence of past resizing.
