EMG 35TWX 4-String Ceramic/Steel Dual Mode Bass Pickup

The EMG 35TWX is a versatile bass pickup that combines two independent tonal options: a single-coil and a humbucker, both enhanced by EMG's X Series preamp for increased dynamic response and clarity. In single-coil mode, it utilizes the JCSX design, featuring ceramic and steel magnets to deliver a rich, warm tone. Switching to humbucker mode engages the CSX dual-coil configuration, producing a big, aggressive sound with a pronounced mid-range.

The X Series preamp provides the 35TWX with a broader dynamic range and increased headroom while maintaining traditional string-to-string balance. Additionally, the included Active Tone Control (VLPF) allows for high-frequency roll-off, similar to a passive tone control, resulting in a noiseless single-coil experience that bridges the gap between active and passive pickup characteristics.

For instruments equipped with two TWX pickups, it's recommended to avoid using EMG's BT or BQ Systems, as each pickup requires a push/pull pot for switching between single-coil and humbucker modes, rendering the balance control incompatible. Instead, consider using a DPDT toggle switch for single/dual coil output selection. The 35TWX is housed in a 3.5-inch (89mm) extended housing, suitable for four-string bass guitars.
